| Land Rover has launched a limited edition Tomb Raider vehicle in Britain and we have just bought one. It is similar to the version that was specially built for the movie of the same name. The limited edition vehicles have similar interiors and exterior designs to the movie Land Rover and come in Bonatti grey exterior, plus the blackened roof rack, spotlights and, of course, the Tomb Raider badge. |

Only 250 of the Defender Tomb Raider LE have been built. It is available in a 90 Station Wagon or 110 Double Cab and is built on the Defender 90 and 110 platforms. Both models are powered by Land Rover's five-cylinder turbo-diesel engines.
On the inside the Tomb Raider is again distinctive. On the 90 the rear bulkhead has been removed and the load space floor plated over. Both models come with interior trim in an all-black finish, and unique seat facings in a new 'bobble trim' fabric tagged as 'dotty'. The centre seat is removed and replaced with a cubby box that comes with cup holders and aluminium inserts.
Both the transfer and gearbox knobs are made from polished aluminium. The standard front footwell mats are replaced with a chequer plate design with the Land Rover logo embossed in the rubber.
As a finishing touch, both models have Tomb Raider 'Eye of the Triangle' badging on the front wings which again reflects the major themes of the movie. The badges are made from pewter-plated pressed copper and are hand crafted, by traditional craftsmen, in Birmingham's jewellery district.
Land Rover built two specially outfitted Defender 110s to be used by video game character turned movie star Lara Croft in the film. Each vehicle cost approximately $175 000 to build.
The `Bonatti grey' vehicle was fitted out by Land Rover's special vehicles operation (SVO) "in conjunction with Paramount Pictures."
