Kintyre

We liked Lochgilphead, nice cars too.

Wednesday - Roddy arrived, Rosie and Kirsty were out at the shops when Rosie didn’t notice she was being followed by a motor bike, well she noticed a large silver machine but did not think for one minute.  Ooops, sentence incomplete, it should have read she did not think for one minute it was Roddy.  We; that part of our contingent still at the cottage got a phone call from Rosie, ‘Roddy is on his way’.

We chatted, had a snack then went through to Ardrishaig, parked up and made our way to the Crinan canal whereupon we walked along it’s banks to Lochgilphead. The weather was beautiful again, Nottingham had 25mm of rain yesterday, we were really lucky with the weather, in general it was sun when I got up, rain when everyone else got up then a beautiful day, with the occasional shower.  The canal was basking in beautiful sunshine as Sophie gave me dandelions and other related flora and fauna to adorn my jacket, just before asking me to carry her on my shoulders.

Roddy walked along with us while beautiful yachts majestically sailed passed and skippers and crews waved to us.

Near the end of our section of the canal walk was an old fishing boat, it is still floating but I fear its’ days are numbered, no more the swell of the open sea and the cry of sea gulls as the nets, bulging with fish are hauled aboard.

The requirement for instant vitals and liquid refreshment led us to a café in Lochgilphead where we watched Austin 7 motor cars passing up and down the street.
