There was a phone call, Roddy was here but his bike had a puncture. It had absorbed a very nasty pop-rivet in the vicinity of
Woodlands Farm which did the said tyre no good at all, in fact, as he did not have a spare tyre on him at the time he had to call the AA out.
Meanwhile Sophie tried to hijack Roddys' bike but she could not reach the pedals. The AA arrived and stuck a bit of Blue Tack onto the tyre then warned Roddy to stay below 40 miles per hour and to head back to Rothsay while he could. After prising Alfie off the bike Roddy fired the machine into life and roared off up the Road.
Sunday - The main objective of the day was the construction of a sand castle in the Woodland Bay Area. We went on foot through the caravan park and hence over the tarmacademed road connecting Girvan in the north to Stranraer in the south and hence onto Northern Ireland Via the ferry link.
Once on the beach we turn north and proceeded parallel to the sea and travelled in a northerly direction up to the more sheltered end of the beach where we watched seals sun bathing out on the rocks. Sam and Sophie quickly got down to the task in hand and built the Sand Castle down close to the receding shore line.
Monday We went to Ayr in search of foot ware for some of our party, together with the obligatory standing about in front of shop after shop add infinitum for the others; however this experience was off set by an hour or so in the best playground ever PLUS Haggis and Chips at the local chippy.
Tuesday – rain and all the tensions brought with it to a small enclosed caravan with four adults and three fractious children, although this was offset by the FreeView TV coming back to life.
Wednesday - Sophie's Pink Teddy went out and asked Anna the Hare and Jemima the Black
Bird what would be a good excursion for a Wednesday.
They suggested Ballantrae and Jemima offered Pink Teddy her mobile phone to check the tides, she used it to
'Twitter' and told Pink Teddy to try it, unfortunately there was no signal.
As a consolation Anna told Pink Teddy she could wear her dress for the day and her shoes.

Pink Teddy took their advice and told us to go down to Ballantrae immediately, she had a lovely pair of sun glasses, Harold the Spectacled
Thrush leant them to her for the day, what a lucky Teddy. |
Culzean on Thursday where Alfie managed to tame a giant caterpillar running wild at their adventure playground. It is a great playground but we did eventually manage to escape and make our way down the track and through the trees to the beach at Maidens. Rain eventually stopped play.

I think the theme of this holiday; so far as the kids are concerned has to be quality playgrounds.
Kirsty went on the computer before we left and found a few GeoCashes. On the way to Ballantrae she set the co-ordinates into the SatNav and success ruled, We stopped at Lendalfoot and would you believe it? |
Pink Teddy ran straight to the GeoCache, opened the box and ran across the car park waving it high in the air.
Luckily there were no Muggles about so Pink Teddy did not give the secret away. Kirsty added her notes to its log and we safely replaced it in its hiding place without being seen to do so by the many unsuspecting ‘muggles’ around us at the time.
On reaching Ballantrae we stopped on the Green beside the harbour and Pink Teddy ran
straight down to the boat, but no Sophie; not even Sam or
Alfie, they had gone to the beach and were building sand castles already. |
